Manchester United gives update on Greenwood future
Mason Greenwood not expected to play for Man Utd this season as investigation continues
Mason Greenwood hasn't played for Manchester United since his arrest in January 2022 and remains suspended as the club conduct their own investigation after the CPS dropped the charges against him
Manchester United hope to complete an internal investigation into Mason Greenwood before the end of the season.
But news that it could go on for several more months means Greenwood is not expected to be seen in a United shirt again during the remainder of this campaign.
Greenwood has been left in limbo because he remains suspended by United - despite all police charges against him being dropped.
The England striker was arrested almost 13 months ago and subsequently charged with attempted rape, assault and coercive behaviour.
But the Crown Prosecution Service discontinued the charges after certain witnesses withdrew their involvement in the case.
United bosses are now in the middle of a club investigation into the circumstances surrounding the allegations made against Greenwood.
Mason Greenwood had his attempted rape, assault and coercive behaviour charges dropped earlier this month.
This will involve interviewing Greenwood to ascertain his version of events - as well as getting specialists to look into his mental and physical condition. United hope the process will be completed before the end of this season, but cannot confirm this.
